The Owners Club at Newbury Racecourse
If you want a comfortable base for a full day's racing, the OLBG Owners Club at Newbury is one of, if not the best way to do it. You get premium parking, owners & trainers access, a reserved table for the day, a superb lunch and lovely location in the heart of the course. This is an area you can't pay to get into - you need to be an owner, trainer or a guest of OLBG.
Who it's for: true racing fans who want to experience something that most people dont get to. If you arent an owner or trainer, this isnt normally accessable.
OLBG has covered racing for around twenty years, and this isn't a write-up from the press tent. We were in the owners' car park, collected the badges, used the table for the day and ate the lunch. Everything below is what we saw and did on the day. The photos are ours, and the video at the top is the actual walkthrough, not a highlights reel from the racecourse's marketing team.

The first perk lands before you've seen a horse. Owners park in the owners' and trainers' car park, right outside the doors to the racecourse. No shuttle, no field-and-a-walk. It's a small thing that quietly shapes the whole day: you arrive unhurried, which is not the standard raceday experience.
From there you use the dedicated owners' and trainers' entrance. The admin is genuinely light. You give your name, the name of the horse, and the race it's running in, and you're through.
At the entrance you collect three things: your owner's badge, your race card, and your dining voucher.
This is the heart of it. Rather than drifting between bars and hunting for somewhere to perch, you've got a reserved table in the OLBG Owners Club (exclusive to OLBG guests, others, even owners and trainers have to eat and go), set in the restaurant, as your base for the whole day. Come and go as you like, it's there waiting whenever you want to sit down, warm up or eat.
A few honest specifics:
The underrated feature is the self-operated touchscreens in the club that replay each race as many times as you like. After a close finish, that's the first thing you'll do.
When the horses head out to post, owners get a designated area in the grandstand to watch the race. It's part of the owners' access that comes with the badge. It's a small but real edge over a standard ticket.
Versus a standard grandstand ticket: not the same day at all. A ticket buys you a view and a lot of time on your feet. Queueing for drinks and food, hunting for somewhere to sit. The owners' club day gets you a reserved table, an included lunch, premium parking and a warm base to use all afternoon. But it is the exclusivity that is the big thing.
Compared with paid corporate hospitality, this is the real comparison, and it's closer. In comfort terms, they're in the same ballpark. A room, a table, a lunch. What sets the owners' club apart is the feel: it is you, owners of horses running that day and trainers entertaining their owners. Others don't get this access.
Versus owners' clubs at other courses: these vary a lot. On the strength of the room, the included lunch and the all-day refreshments, Newbury's is among the better ones we've spent a day in. Other owners we have spoken to will put it in the top few in the country as well.
There are two ways in, and one is far more realistic than the other.
The first is the traditional route: own a horse running at Newbury that day. That's what owners' access is built around, and it's exactly as exclusive as it sounds; racehorse ownership runs to thousands of pounds a year, and even then your day is tied to when your horse actually runs.
